Love is the Business Plan (and other unconventional ideas)
Love is the Business Plan (and other unconventional ideas) is based on the widely recognized piece, The New Business Plan: Love written by me in 2015 for Delivering Happiness (a Zappo's-owned culture consulting company). If you read the article, you'll get a sense of how I think about business and more importantly, how changing the way you think about it can bring purpose into your entrepreneurial experience. It doesn't matter if you're a budding entrepreneur or a seasoned executive, the ideas presented here are what Seth Godin might call "weird" in the best way. With references to Hugh Macleod, Seth Godin, Tim Ferris, Ben Tossell, Tina Roth, Kip Tindell and more, I think you'll get a sense for what it means to Do-Good Business in a different way. Lifetime updates included.
The book follows what is now called "Conscious Capitalism" (though I didn't know it at the time of writing) in which people use Business as a powerful force for good, driving both positive personal and social change. I talk about the GECKO model, a framework and acronym that stands for Gratitude, Empathy, Care, Kindness, and Optimism, and how this virtue-led system is not just nice-to-have, but makes business sense for today's business world. You'll find vulnerable stories, experiences, experiments, and prompts to encourage and inspire the idea that Love IS the Business Plan and it can make you comfortably successful (inside and out) if you approach it that way.
